Australia has given the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a rock-star welcome

as it tries to woo the world's most populous market and a powerful ally at a time of growing concern

about China's military and economic might. Thousands of people, mostly from the Indian diaspora,

attended a campaign-style rally in an arena in Sydney.

Standing alongside the Indian Prime Minister, his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese,

heaped praise on Mr. Modi.

But absolutely nothing but standing with him on a stage like this,

looking at this magnificent sea of faces, what an honour.

And what a joy it is to get to welcome Prime Minister Modi here with all of you.
