It's so seldom that we hear anything with the word fortian in it.

And of course, obviously it covers a whole host of word events, and many of the things we do fit into that category.

And we have two guests today, Tobias and Emily Wayland, and they're involved with the singular

Fortian society.

And I kind of wonder, Tobias, whether there's any reason why people don't even know what

Forte or Fortian means.

Boy, you know, that is a good question.

And it's something I've considered, because you're right,

for someone as influential as Charles Fort is,

to the entirety of the paranormal field,

he doesn't get mentioned a whole lot anymore. And I think part of that

may be due to just general ignorance. A lot of people aren't, and this is by no means meant to be

insulting to anybody listening. All I'm really saying is that I don't think

that people always put in the legwork to research the influences that have led to some of the things

that they take for granted about the things that they might enjoy.

The other part of it, I think, is that there is still this sort of compartmentalization

of paranormal phenomena, you know, where you've got ghosts and hauntings, you've got UFOs,

you've got Bigfoot, and then, you know,

all other kinds of cryptids.
