A reading from the book of Nehemiah.

These are the priests and the Levites who came up with Zerebabel, the son of Sha'altiel and Jesua.

Saraya, Jeremiah, Ezra, Amariah, Malach, Hattush, Shikhaniah, Raham, Meramoth, Ido, Genethoi, Abijah, Midjaman, Mayadaya, Bilga, Shameya, Joyerib,

Jedea, Salu, Amok, Hilkaya, Jadaea. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brothers

in the days of Joshua.

And the Levites, Joshua, Benui, Cadmiel, Sheribaya, Judah, and Matanaya,

who with his brothers was in charge of the Songs of Thanksgiving.

And Bakukaya and Uni and their brothers stood opposite them in the service.

And Jeshua was the father of Joyakim, Joyakim the father of Eliyab, Eliyab the father of

Joyada, Joyida the father of Jonathan and Jonathan the father of Jadua.

And in the days of Joyakim were priests, heads of Father's houses, of Saraya,

Merea, of Jeremiah Hananiah, of Ezra, Meshulam, of Amariah, Jehoevenan, of Malachi,

Jonathan, of Shebanaya Joseph, of Heram Adna, of Maraeoth

Helkai, of Ido Zechariah, of Ginathan Mashulam, of Abijah, of Abijah Zikri, of Minyaman of Moadaya Piltai, of Bilga Shammua, of Shimea Jehonathan,

of Joyarib Matani, of Jadea Uzi, of Salai Kalai, of Amok Iber, of Hilkaya Hashibaya, of Jadaa, Nethanel. In the days of Eliasheb, Joyada, Johanan, and Jadua,

the Levites were recorded as heads of father's houses, so too were the priests in the reign

of Darius, the Persian. As for the sons of Levi, their heads of father's houses were written in the book of the

chronicles until the days of Johanin, the son of Eliasib, and the chiefs of the Levites,

Hashibaya, Sherebaia, and Jesua the son of Cadmiel, with their brothers who stood opposite them,

to praise and give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God,

watch by watch.

Matanaya, Bakbukaya, Obadiah, Mashulam, Talman, and Akab were gatekeepers standing guard
