You want to hear something kind of cool?

I mean, this was just a right place, right time moment when I guess I was lucky enough to have the band I was in get offered this contract with the management company.

They were pretty good.

I mean, better than I think we probably deserved.

But they ended up taking us out to Los Angeles, and we were recording with a guy named Dave Schiffman.

And Dave Schiffman is someone who works with Rick Rubin.

He's like his right-hand man.

He's a guy who helps do a lot of the mixing.

Rick is the producer. He's the brains. I mean, Rick Rubin, I mean, he's produced everyone. Beastie Boys, I'll a cool J, run DMC, Slayer, Tom Petty. I mean, the guy's a legend in the producing thing. And this guy was lucky enough to be one of his two or three people that worked on most of his albums.

And when we were out in Los Angeles, producing thing. And this guy was lucky enough to be one of his two or three people that worked on most of his albums.

And when we were out in Los Angeles recording, Dave Schiffman, this guy who had been kind of doing back and forth between us.

And then at night he was going and working with Rick on something.

He came and he goes, you guys want to hear something cool? And we said what? And he goes, well, I know you've probably heard rumors that the guys of rage against the machine have teamed up with Chris Cornell. And he said, I've got a recording of them yesterday, them in the studio. And I was like, wow, I'd love to hear it, sure. And he played what was eventually going to end up being Cochise, you know, the song that they played at the Burroughs games.

Yeah, yeah.

But what it was, it was the music, and it sounds familiar, it sounds like the song does now.

But Chris Cornell had yet to write the lyrics, but he had the melody in his head.
