Hi, and welcome to another half-size-me audio blog. Today's blog title, How to Move Away from the Power of the Scale.

0:07.5

This is a continuation from last week's audio blog titled, Is the Scale All That Is Motivating You?

0:19.4

In the last audio blog post, I shared what intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation are

0:25.3

and why it is important at some point in your journey to move toward the intrinsic motivation

0:30.1

in regards to your healthy lifestyle. For me, the goal is to move away from my healthy lifestyle

0:35.4

choices being made in regards to the number that shows up

0:38.4

on the scale and making the healthy choices regardless of the scale's feedback. With the scale being

1:17.5

beautifully explained in a post I found at psychologycampus.com. It states intrinsic motivation is

1:24.3

when your motivation comes from within you yourself, when it's based on your values and your motivations will not wear off.

1:31.9

It can't wear off because your values are very concrete things and they don't change or diminish quickly or easily.

1:39.3

So that means extrinsic motivation carries us so far.

1:43.2

But at some point, there is a good chance that

1:45.6

sluster will wear off. Then what? Or what if you stop getting extrinsic motivators like, say,

1:51.2

stars and stickers and medals? Are you still interested in doing the activities? I had to ask myself

1:57.0

this. If I don't weigh myself constantly, do I still want to eat healthy? Do I still want to work out?
