Now here's your host, Mike Sommage and Mark Malusus.

Welcome in here, Vison at the track.

0:14.0

I am Mike Sommich.

0:14.8

He is Mark Malusis, and we are here with you for the next two hours.

We've got the Preakness Stakes just one hour away from breaking from the gate. And we'll be here the hour after recapping and talk about everything. We've got the PGA going on, Mark. We've got an NHL playoff game six. We've got to talk game seven in the NBA tomorrow. Absolutely loaded two hours. Unibokola over DRF going to join us as well. But I got to ask you, Mark, how are you doing here as we head in to the Preakness? On the day, well, first off, it's great to be with you, right? It's a beautiful Saturday. And we've got the second jewel of the horse racing's Triple Crown. Even though it's not at Pimlico, it's at, it's at Laurel Park this afternoon, as Pimlico is under construction. but great to be here having a great day. I mean, handicapping wise, not all that great. Did have the Shug Horse with Junior Alvarado aboard poor Washington a little bit, for Washington a little bit earlier in the card. But after that, it's been a little bit hit and miss, but looking to strike it when we talk about the preakness, which gets going about an hour from now. So looking forward to that. It's great to be with you, Mike, and right here on Bison for the next couple hours. I think I just lost a photo here, Mark. As we saw the four horse here, we had a turf sprint right before the preakness. Looks like the four just noses out the eight.

1:29.4

A bummer for yours truly, but we will rebound. Get things going here for the Preakness Stakes.

1:33.8

And to your point, we're at Laurel Park this year. Forty-800 fans are going to be attending the

1:38.8

Preakness. They had to cap the sales tickets because not only is Pimlico being renovated, but Laurel Park also going under

1:44.3

reservations currently. So not the normal roar from the crowd that you would expect as they

1:49.5

break from the gate. If you're joining us over on Mad Dog Sports Radio, we will have the NBC

1:54.1

call for you when the race goes live. If you're joining us over on Veson, then make sure to stick it

1:58.7

right here. Mark and I will talk through the race as it goes down to the wire. And what an interesting race it is, Mark. A lot of buzz, obviously, around the fact that we don't have our Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo who's coming back here. We don't have Renegate either, the second place finisher. We do have Ocelli who comes in here running third from the Kentucky Derby just a couple weeks ago. We've got Incredible who came back from that Derby. But I'm going to play silver lining a little bit here. I would have loved to have the stars. But this is one of the best betting races, Preakness specifically, that we have had in a long time. We've got a field of 14. Right now your favorite is five to one on the board

2:34.6

with an hour till they break from the gate. There's a lot of different options to be able to try

2:38.6

and make some money on this race, Mark. Yeah, I wouldn't disagree with you there. Mike, I think it

2:43.9

opens up. The problem is or the difficulty is the difficulty when you're taking a look at the field

2:49.3

is it's a little bit of a projection with some of these three-year-olds and some have not run particularly well or some have and then tailed off a little bit. But you've got to go out there and dig a little bit deeper into their form and whether the distance, you know, what's the pace going to be up front? How quicker are they going to go to the half? Is it going to be a case where speed is holding up down in Laurel? We've seen that at times, especially in the Maryland tracks. Is that going to be the case this afternoon? Is it going to play to someone? You sit in midpack or coming from off the pace. But when you're looking, you know, at this field of 14, there's no question. I mean, we're getting a full field, which is a big thing. And from a handicapping perspective, you can make an argument for a lot of these horses. You know, and, you know, you can make an argument that, you know, six, seven, eight, potentially, if things go their way, could end up winning the second jewel of horse racing's triple crown this afternoon. And so I don't disagree that it's a tremendous handicapping race. You've got to be right. And it's one of those ones where, you know, if you've got after this one, after they cross the finish line, you could be very, very frustrated by missing something after digging through the past performances. You've been there before, Mike. I've been there before as well, where all of a sudden, and then great price, great odds, whatever it might be, great triple, great exacta, and you miss something there. It's one of those races. So it's going to be a lot of fun, a lot of fun talking up to the race and breaking it down after this one goes final. Yeah, that is one of my, my big fears in this year's Preakness, that you're going to get a very good trifecta. You're going to get a very good super effect. It's trying to hit it. That is the problem. And I'm sure I'm going to look back at one or two horses, be like, I could have gotten there, but we just couldn't quite make it. We will have best bets. I do have a trifecta, superfecta. Mark has a trifecta that he's going to give out as well.

4:31.8

We'll do that in the segment right before the Preak mistakes.

4:34.8

We will run through the entire field. Talk about whether or not we like them as a win contenders. If we think they can hit the try, hit the super, where they kind of fit into the race flow. If they're a speedhorse or close it, we'll run through all of that right after the bottom of the hour here.

4:48.3

Like I mentioned, Gino Bacola going to join us from Laurel Park. If there is speed horse, a closer. We'll run through all of that right after the bottom of the hour here.

4:48.3

Like I mentioned, Gino Bacola going to join us from Laurel Park to talk everything about this race in the next segment as well. But I want to look at the odds board first, Mark. I thought this was a fascinating race. When you look at the morning line, your favorite here, Iron Honor, the nine horse sitting at nine to two, you look at the current board, Iron Honor, nine to one on that board, double the morning line price. Now, I didn't

5:09.7

agree with the morning line price, so I'm not shocked. Your current favorite is Taj Mahal, who now sits
