As you know, if you have followed my work over the years or even recently, I've been

a midwife for 40 years now. I started out as a home birth midwife studying in 1981 when I was 15 years old and it has been a

continuous thread in my life for 20 years attending home birth, transitioning to

becoming a physician, a family doctor who specialized in obstetrics,

but maintaining being a midwife first, both in heart, mind, and in practice. And when I started studying midwifery in 1981, it was

considered that we had a maternal health crisis because the C-section rate

was heading up to 20%.

In this country, it's now 34% as an average.
