welcome to the amateur traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. The first piece of news I have for you if you haven't already heard the EU

the European Union has ratified the open skies treaty and what the open skies

treaty allows is for any European airline to fly to the

U.S. and any U.S. airline to fly to any city in Europe and that should allow for more airlines to compete in the transatlantic trade and hopefully

therefore lower prices.

If you haven't priced flights for Europe for this summer, they are outrageously expensive.

This treaty unfortunately will not take place until March 2008.

It was slowed down somewhat in terms of when it took place to allow Heathrow to open up a fifth

terminal. The airlines do need to find space at whatever airport they're flying into, but this

should be a boon to tourists for next summer.
