amateur traveler episode 745. Today the amateur traveler talks about

Cloud Forests and Chocolate, surfing and slot canyons, volcanoes and

filibusters as we go to Nicaragua.

I know that I should be heading home, but maybe not, maybe not today.

Welcome to the amateur traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Let's talk about

Nicaragua. I'd like to welcome the show Mike Cobb who's come to us from ECI Development, a resort

builder, and come to talk to us about Nicaragua.

Mike first, welcome to the show.

Thank you, Chris.

Good to be with you tonight. Yeah. And what is your

relationship to Nicaragua? My family, we moved there in 2002, my wife and my two-year-old

daughter and we built a resort property on the Pacific coast and we went for what we thought would just be two or three years to get the project started,

hire architects, engineers, builders, accounting people and by about three years into it we'd hired all those people and we

had a chief operating officer in place and my wife and I went out to dinner one

night great restaurant Casa de de lausogeros is the name of it.

And wonderful restaurant, we sat there, we made a list.

We took a piece of paper, drew a line down the middle, stay in Nicaragua, go back to the U.S.

And at the end of the evening it was very easy decision. We decided to stay a while longer and a while was 11 more years and so we ended up in Nicaragua for 14 years, which would just 14 very, very enjoyable, delightful years.

Well, and I'm going to guess that you spent 14 of those years with people saying Nicaragua is the new destination because I think

people say that every year why should someone go to Nicaragua? There are a lot of
