And why are we talking about Lafayette, Louisiana?

Lafayette, Louisiana is an amazing place and the whole region, Acadiana. It's a unique cultural experience. So the food, the music is something you're not going to get anywhere else in the United States.

Well, and I think you could expand that. It's different from other places of the world as well.

You say Acadiana, and I know we've got a smart audience, and so a lot of people probably know what Cajun is, but when we talk about the Cajans, who are we talking about?

So we're talking about Cajans, it's short for Acadians.

So the Acadians were the French-speaking people living in what is now Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in Canada.

And in 1755 the British expelled them from the country. They told them they had to be British or leave, so they left.

And after many years, there was 1755 when they were expelled from the area.

They were 1764 is when the first Acadians made their way to Louisiana,

landed around Acadian at Lafayette area. So Kajun's is just a short form for

Acadians. Excellent. And when we say they moved to Louisiana,

Louisiana was outside the US at the time, so they didn't move to yet another English colony.

They were really moving to, well I think it was already a French colony by that point.
