President Joe Biden promised a more humane and welcoming approach to migrants seeking protections in the U.S.

But so far, he's kept in place some Trump administration restrictions on asylum.

We get an update on the humanitarian crisis for thousands of migrants and asylum seekers who are waiting at the U.S.-Mexico border

and talk about the Biden administration's handling of the issues so far.

Welcome to Forum. I'm Faridida, Javala Romero. President Joe Biden says he wants to restore and strengthen our asylum system for immigrants fleeing persecution. He has relaxed some restrictions put in place under former President Trump. But advocates are critical of the Biden administration for keeping other policies that limit people's ability to apply for and win asylum in this country.

One of the most controversial is something called Title 42 that largely closed the southern border for many asylum seekers because of COVID-19.
