Summary

Episode 427 features a conversation between astrologers Madeline DeCotes and Chris Brennan about astrology and death, where we discuss the relevance of astrology in understanding and dealing with issues surrounding mortality, as well as related topics such as how astrologers cope with grief and loss. We open by addressing the question of whether astrology can speak to the topic of death, and talk about some of the different ways that it can, both by looking at a person's birth chart and the charts of people who are close to them. Eventually the conversation delves into the complexities of interpreting astrological indicators of death, as well as the need for caution, sensitivity, and ethics when discussing such topics. The episode is meant to provide a broad exploration of the topic of astrology and mortality, highlighting the ways in which astrology can offer insights into the experience of death and the grieving process, and this lays a foundation for doing more detailed treatments of specific subtopics in future episodes. Dakota about the astrology of death. So, hey Madeline, thanks for joining me.

0:09.8

Hey Chris, that's pleasure to be here again. Yeah, so we did a little casual astrology chat yesterday in the studio,

0:17.0

and then we were just talking this morning here in Denver about the topic of death that came up.

0:22.0

There was a recent like famous celebrity death with

0:26.3

Matthew Perry there's also just been a huge amount of in the world with in the

0:32.0

Middle East and with everything a huge amount of

0:34.0

death and suffering and so more serious topics have been on my mind lately and

0:38.8

you mentioned that you had a had a loss in this past year and I thought it would be interesting or good to just like talk about some of that in a topic that I've always meant to do but I've kind of not avoided but I wasn't sure when or how to do it and I thought today

0:56.7

maybe we would just do a casual chat to talk about this topic more broadly and some of the details and some of the questions that people have surrounding it?

1:05.8

Yeah, I think it's a really important topic to cover because it is something that astrology can speak to and kind of as we're alluding to yesterday not only like the the

1:16.2

time that we're in with Saturn's transit through Pisces feels apropos to be taking a

1:22.2

compassionate look at death as a topic and as loss and grieving as a topic as well as I totally blinked on on what else I had another point but yeah it's the right time to be talking about

1:38.8

death I think it's maybe it was our other point yesterday that in Western cultures sometimes we shy away from or a little

1:46.6

bit too nervous like death is a taboo in our culture whether where it's not as much in others

1:52.0

so I think it's helpful for people who have experienced

1:55.0

loss or who work in death or who have a familiarity in their, you know, their

2:00.8

subjective experience of life where death is a common topic it's nice to give resources to those people so that

2:08.1

Yeah, they're not you know feeling as alone as what can often happen

2:12.3

Yeah, so let's talk about that with the first question is, you know, can astrology speak to death

2:19.2

is a question that
