0:18.3	passive income. Today's show is about asset protection. Now that may sound dry to a lot of people but it's actually a
0:25.6	critically important subject matter but why is asset protection important? What is it? Why do you need
0:32.2	it and how do you achieve it? Actually I find the subject somewhat confusing, at least I have over the years, but I've spent a lot of time studying the topic and reading books and learning what I can.
0:43.0	And what I've learned, unfortunately,
0:44.4	not in the beginning, but later on,
0:45.9	is that there are two important sides
0:48.0	to asset protection.
0:49.2	There's the legal side, but then there's the tax side.
0:52.3	And a lot of people and subject matter experts really don't pay attention a whole lot to the tax side of the equation, but they're really two sides of the same coin.
1:01.0	You can ask a hundred people, their opinions about this subject, and you'll get a hundred answers. They're not going to be exactly the same, and that part makes it rather confusing. Asset protection is really not a one-size-fits-all subject.
1:14.0	It's more about controlling everything but appearing to own nothing.
1:19.0	And that is probably the most important thing I learned about the objective of asset protection is
1:24.9	control everything but appear to own nothing.
1:29.0	So today's guest is someone who I've known for many years. He's a very smart guy and I wanted to bring him on the show because he really understands this subject and he understands both sides of the coin, the legal aspect as well as the tax aspect of it.
1:44.9	So he spends his time putting together strategic solutions for real estate investors that are
1:50.7	looking for asset protection and it could be something as simple as setting up an entity like an LLC or as complex as someone owning hundreds of units that wants that generational income and wealth to pass on to their heirs.
