I'm feeling Asia. Welcome to Feeling Asian

A Feeling Asian, a podcast where two Asians talk about their feelings.

I'm your host, Youngme Mayor.

And I'm your other co-host Brian Park.

Yeah, and so I guess before we get started on the first episode ever,

we should discuss how we got to the name the title feeling Asian yeah well we this is a

podcast about two Asian people wanting to be totally open and vulnerable with their emotions

and feelings yeah Yeah, radical transparency.

Being completely open with no shame, which I feel like is a big thing.

I think shame is integral to the Asian experience.

It's just what we're made to do all the time.

I mean that's what Japanese samurai would do is they would

suicide, sepeukku themselves because of shame.

Yeah, because they would rather die than talk about their erectile dysfunction.

But you know what, that's for another episode, literally.

We, yeah, so I guess like based on that stereotype of Asians, we met each other as two comedians in New York City and we got along really well because we realize that we are very open emotionally

yeah and we don't have any problem discussing things that would maybe be

embarrassing not only to Asian people but to just other regular human beings. I came down that road later in life

because for a long time I carried a lot of shame about my thoughts and about some of my desires and I don't know I guess growing up I just lived my life according to a blueprint and

the word the operative word should existed a lot like I should be doing this I should be

doing that because I want to do something else I feel a lot of shame and it wasn't
