Accelerated Spanish Episode 71

0:03.0

How fast do you want to be fluent in Spanish?

0:06.0

Using our tested system that combines timeless language learning hacks with a memory palace of mnemonics,

0:11.0

you can be ready to integrate with native speakers in as little as one month.

This week, we'll be going through Joel's Yard to learn over 50 new adjectives.

0:20.0

Remember that Joel's Y yard is sorted into several

0:23.5

different areas based on how the adjectives are used. In this episode, we'll be learning just a few

0:30.2

new adjectives in the first three areas of the yard. To begin with, the first thing that we

0:36.5

encounter in Joel's yard is the blue car on his

0:39.4

front driveway. This is where we store comparative adjectives, such as more, less, better,

0:48.0

worse, bigger, and smaller. In English, these words tend to end with the letters ER, but in Spanish, it's more common

0:57.6

that they end in either S or OR. For example, let's just use the word luce, meaning light,

1:06.7

and apply any of these adjectives to it. More light is mass-lose. Less light is

1:14.2

minus-lose, better light is mejor-lose, and greater light, or bigger light, is

1:21.8

major-lose. We store the word mejor inside Joel's car where he hordes his tea bags.

1:30.5

The opposite of mejor is peor.

1:35.1

The tea bags in Joel's hoard have tiny tags that look like oars.

1:40.7

Although Joel loves his hoard of tea, he thinks that these tiny tags are the worst part of the deal.

1:47.9

Whenever he can, he cuts off these tags and they end up falling out of the cracks of the door of his blue car.

1:54.3

So think of the stressed syllable or, but remember that it's related to paying, which for Joel is the worst part of the deal.

2:03.1

So the word for worst or worse is peor.

2:07.7

For example, worse light would be peor-luse.
