Sir Charles, why does it seem that Wall Street is so enthralled with AI companies?

Well, I think a lot of it is because when you stop and analyze where the most money came from

for developing AI systems, it originally was involved in finance, predicting the stock market,

doing analysis, and even warfare.

So there has been a long-standing connection between AI development and finance.

And the other thing is, if you can

predict or even steer trends, you can control how profits are generated. One of the things that

really worries me about it, though, is many of the things we're buying these days, we don't actually

own anymore. We can't control them properly. I mean, look at all the things that automobiles are doing.

You have to have a subscription to keep the seats heated, and they have a kill switch in them.

I think that the same sort of mindset that when it is trying to make the maximum amount of money out of things using computing and AI is now being applied to the products that we normally traditionally

would own and repair ourselves and we're losing the control over those things.

Explain what a kill switch does.

Well, in times past, if somebody was doing something crazy in their vehicle, you basically

would have to have spike strips to blow the tires out,

or you'd have pit maneuvers with people chasing in police cars, or something similar to

that to stop the driver. With a kill switch, all you have to do is issue a command, and they can

literally shut the vehicle down anywhere. And so many of the systems that we use in our vehicles are tied to networks,
