Summary

In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim talks to Houston Dynamo's lead Video Analyst and Arsenal Women fan Carl Carpenter. There's is a small bit of discussion about the North London derby defeat (because nobody needs a deep dive on that!) then Tim and Carl go through each area of the team to review the first half of the season, including, the attack adapting to Alessia Russo upfront, the new midfield emerging underneath Little and Walti, McCabe as an inverting full-back and how a new-look defence has settled down, as well as some goalkeeper chat too. Carl and Tim also discuss how Arsenal can better deal with deep block defences.

Tim Steeleman and as you might be able to tell from my voice this might have to be a slightly

0:46.1

tight podcast in terms of time which is no bad thing because I'm definitely a waffler on the microphone

0:52.2

but I don't think my voice is going to hold up to much

0:54.8

waffling today which is absolutely fine. For those of you who've tuned in and are a little

1:02.1

bit tentative about listening to this episode because you don't want a deep dive on the North London Derby. Don't worry. We're going to do one question at the top about the North London Derby and the rest is going to be a kind of

1:14.6

capsule half season review after that so you might have noticed that didn't write an

1:19.2

analysis piece about the North London Derby did that on purpose because nobody wants that content and nobody

1:24.4

wants an entire podcast about that, thank you very much. But we have reached roughly the halfway

1:29.8

point of the WSL season. There is certainly a break in play anyway for a few weeks so a good time to kind of take stock

1:36.8

particularly before Christmas and perhaps pick out some of the themes of the first half of the season and with me to do that I'm delighted to welcome
