Summary

In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim talks to Helen Hardy – founder of women's football merchandise outlet Foudy's . Helen started the business from her bedroom in 2019 because of the difficulty of finding bespoke women's football kits with customisation and personalisation. Tim talks to Helen about how the business started, why big brands continue to undervalue the market for women's football merchandise, how the buying habits of women's football fans differ from men's football, kit fits and how Foudy's now partner with major brands due to expertise in a market that brands continue to overlook.

Hello and welcome to the Arsenal Women Ask Cast on AskBlog.com. With me, your host Tim

0:18.4

Stilman, I am very aware that I never ever introduced myself when I do these podcasts.

0:23.6

I never say what my name is or anything like that. I just assume that people know which

0:28.2

is not great hosting really. So yeah, it's me, Tim Stilman. And we are in this kind of well.

0:34.5

What many of us are probably as fans, maybe as content makers, are considering a bit of a

0:40.4

hinterland between the season ending and the World Cup starting. So what we're filling that

0:45.8

hinterland with mainly transfer rumours, not a lot going on because most of the players are on

0:50.6

holiday at the moment in terms of finalising things, but something that is going on at the moment

0:55.7

that's filling that little kind of gap are kit drops. So obviously clubs are releasing

lots of kit drops happening, lots and lots of people going into their overdraft buying every kit

1:19.7

that they can get their hands on. And that's obviously like a very, very big part of the kind of

1:25.0

calendar, particularly from a marketing perspective that a lot of fans experience. And I thought

1:29.8

this would be a really, really good time to discuss that. So while the rest of us consider this

1:34.2

a bit of a hinterland, a bit of a down period before the World Cup starts, one person who would not

1:40.9

consider this much of a hinterland, but the absolute peak of the year in terms of capacity is

1:49.3

my guest Helen Hardy, who is the founder of Faldias, a kind of women's football merchandise service

1:55.4

that I am sure most of our listeners have used at some point. Helen, thanks so much for joining us

2:01.7

in what I know is a very busy time for you at the moment. Thanks for having me and what I would

2:06.2

say is this is probably one of my favourite times of the season for two reasons. Mawon, the

2:11.2

kit, being dropped and I love football shirts. Number two, I get to see where all the players have
