Summary

This week, we’re taking a brief pause before the next regular episode drops after Christmas. For many riders, this time of year isn’t about motion or miles—it’s about reflection. About looking back at where we’ve been, the choices we made along the way, and what still lies ahead. The road doesn’t always demand constant movement. Sometimes, the most important moments happen when things go quiet—when we take stock, reconnect, and remember why we ride in the first place. Wherever you are, and however you’re spending these days, we appreciate you taking the journey with us. Our regular episode comes out tomorrow.

If you're listening on Christmas Day or sometime around in the holidays, I wanted to put up something short before our regular episode.

0:08.0

We've been doing this show for almost 12 years now, and we just wrapped up 10 years of doing Adventure Rider Radio Raw.

0:13.4

That's the show we do monthly, the other one.

0:16.0

And one of the things that's been part of the show from the very beginning is the idea of adventure.

0:22.7

After all, we are Adventure Rider Radio.

0:24.8

Actually, one of the first things we ever talked about on the show was trying to define what adventure actually means.

0:30.2

And over the years, I've noticed that the word adventure often gets tied to the extreme, those long trips, big distances, epic trips, being on the road for months or even

0:39.1

years at a time. And those adventures are great. I absolutely love them. But what's also interested

0:44.8

me, maybe just as much, are the adventures that happen close to home, the ones that unfold in a few

0:50.1

hours, simply because you decided to stretch yourself a little.

0:58.5

You know, I've talked to riders that have ridden around the world, riders that stay closer to home. And what they tend to have in common is a willingness to put themselves in situations

1:03.9

that they are uncomfortable or uncertain about and work their way through them. And that's

1:09.9

where the growth comes from. When you put yourself

1:12.4

in a situation that's not easy and come out the other side, you've done something real for

1:17.4

yourself. There's nothing quite like that feeling, that moment when you realize that you've

1:23.7

handled something difficult and you're better for it. The regular episode will be out tomorrow.

1:29.7

I felt it right to pause today.

1:31.9

I've always loved this time of year because it breaks routine.

1:35.8

Things slow down, systems don't quite run the way they do normally.

1:39.4

People tend to break their schedules up and they tend to pull together a little bit more.

1:44.6

Thanks so much for listening and being a part of Adventure Rider Radio.

1:48.3

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate.
