Last week we saw the dissolution of much of the Continental Army back in America.

The war was coming to an end, much too slowly for most, but as

politicians wrapped up the paperwork, the soldier's work was at an end.

All the parties had agreed to terms of peace, but as we have seen, getting the word out about

peace to distant corners of the world often took months. Those who had not yet received word often continued the fight. That was the case in

India. We last looked in on India in episode 306 when the my sword leader, H Heider Ali, commanded an army in what is today southeastern India against the British Army and the East India Company.

Heider and the Mysore were allied with the French who provided naval support under

Admiral Pierre Andre desufren. Heider Ali continued to wage war against the British through 1782.

In December, the Meissor leader suddenly died of cancer.

On his death, his son, Tippu Sultan took the reigns of leadership and the title of Emperor of Mysor.

Under his father, Tippu had led armies numerous times against the British and defeated them on several occasions.

Tibu in fact had spent most of his life fighting the British. He began service during the

first Mysaur war in 1766 when he was only 15 years old. A year later he was

commanding a corps of cavalry in the invasion of the Carnatic.

Tibu continued to fight under his father during the first Anglaisor war in the 1760s.
