0:12.9	We're really good at making messes, aren't we?
0:15.6	We make a mess of our relationships when we use our words to hurt people.
0:19.6	We make a mess of our homes when
0:21.3	bitterness starts to take over where forgiveness should be. We make a mess of our careers
0:26.4	when we want achievement more than we value integrity. And we make a mess of our finances
0:31.3	when we buy things on impulse and end up paying for them long after we even care that we have
0:35.3	them. Messing up just seems to come naturally.
0:39.6	And honestly, it's not that surprising when you read the Bible to find that the people
0:42.8	they're also messy. They actually look a lot like us. They make choices for the wrong reasons.
0:47.9	They hang on to pride and insecurity. They want what they want when they want it. But here's
0:52.8	the difference. The Bible isn't just a story about people.
0:56.0	It's a story about God and about how God keeps showing up to rescue people who don't get it right, over and over again.
1:03.0	God's story is about grace and it's about rescue.
1:06.0	And the incredible thing is, his solution, what the Bible calls redemption, is something we can't mess up.
1:13.7	We don't earn it, and we can't ruin it.
1:17.3	So let's look at a messy story in 2nd Samuel 3.
1:21.0	This is the story of David, the man God chose to be king, and in this chapter, David makes a bunch of decisions that honestly look
1:28.3	foolish. He is not the picture of wisdom or leadership here. The Bible doesn't hide that.
1:34.6	The Bible doesn't sugarcoat people's mistakes, and as much as we want to read stories about
1:38.9	people who are heroic and victorious, the ones that tend to stick with us are the ones
