So we're going to look at 1st Peter,

chapter 5 versus 5 through 7.

You younger men, like 7.

You younger men, likewise be subject to your elders, and all of you, clothe yourselves with

humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you at the proper time,

casting all your anxiety upon Him because he cares for you. humility is not a popular virtue in the modern world as far as I can tell. I don't hear it touted on the radio talk shows.

I don't see it listed on the core values that we want to impart

in high schools. I don't hear about it coming through valedictorian high school speeches. I don't think it's part of the curriculum in diversity

training seminars. I walk into B. Dalton's and into Barnes and Noble, and I go to those huge self-help sections,

psychology sections, and you look in vain for a book on humility, it's not in the wind, it's not part of the

striving, it's not popular.

Now the reason for that, I think, is not hard to find.

Humility only thrives where God thrives.

Humility is only big where God is big.

When God goes, humility goes.

Humility is like the shadow of God.

She kind of follows him around like this.
