A materialism has, you know, become the defining characteristic of the community.

There was someone, a professor, somewhere else who was a Muslim of Waiyu,

someone I think who is probably not from, who published a scathing critique of the modern orthodox community

as being essentially an upper class, you know, country club. And the defining element

the belonging to is that you have to be well to do. It was pretty harsh, but sometimes, sometimes

it feels like it's not off the mark. Are Jews obsessed with money? Do we care a bit too much

about materialism? That's the topic in this week's episode. I took the trek down to the

city, to Manhattan, New York, to visit with a leading rabbi, Rabbi Jeremy Weeder over at Yeshiva
