So we've started these archive interviews or archive podcast because we get requests for

interviews that we aired in the past and We find it fun to get to share something because most of our

content is created live on the air so if you missed that show and you're not a regular podcast listener or you're newer to the show, you don't know some of the stuff that we're proud of.

So one of the interviews that is our most requested is with the biographer of a really, really good

biography about George Jones and funny story when I did this interview

when I read this book in preparation for the interview

I was in Aspen and I was I had been skiing I think I was somewhere in Colorado. I don't know if we were in Aspen, but my back, oh no, I was in snowmass. I remember where I was. I had injured my back and I was going to be having a back surgery when I returned to Houston,

but I didn't want to blow the family's ski vacation.

So I would do the show in the morning in my studio, which was our hotel room, and the minute I was finished, I would lay out on the

bed flat, I'm sorry, lay out on the floor, flat, because that was the only way I could relieve some of the pain on my back. I was in excruciating pain and then I would take a painkiller to get through till the next morning when I'd have to get up

and do the show again.

Years later, I met the guy who for 10 years had been my kids ski instructor named Howie Urquhart and we finally meet and he says

man you're nothing like what I thought you were based on what the kids told me when they were growing up and I said what does that mean? He said well

I thought you were this big fat guy and I said well I've just lost a lot of weight and he goes okay and I thought that you couldn't move because you just laid flat all the time because your back hurt. And I said that was one trip. And by the way, I was on the verge of having surgery in excruciating pain.

He goes, yeah, you're just different than I thought.

So anyway, I was reading this George Jones biography and I found it to be fascinating.

Years ago you talked to a man who wrote a biography about George Jones.

I'll admit I wasn't really into George Jones when it aired,

but I've been enjoying his music of late.
