We've got all the details for you on some big GOP meetings happening this weekend and what they mean for the party right now.

But first, what to expect from Biden's long-awaited announcement today on guns?

The press made lots of first day promises on the campaign

trail, but you might remember this one. In fact, my first day of office, I'm going to send a bill

of the Congress repealing the liability protection for gun manufacturers, closing the background

check loopholes and waiting period that now let too many people slip through the cracks.

Now, this pledge came in early 2020 before the pandemic hit and completely dominated Biden's agenda.

But we're almost three months into his term now, and gun control activists are getting pretty

frustrated that Biden still hasn't made good on that promise. Their frustration only grew louder

after back-to-back mass shootings in Georgia, Colorado, and California last month. Today, those activists

are finally getting their moment. Biden set to unveil a whole package of executive actions to curb

gun violence today. Here's what's on tap. Biden will give the Justice Department 30 days to start requiring buyers of so-called

ghost guns, that's homemade or makeshift firearms that don't have serial numbers, to undergo

background checks.

Within 60 days, the White House says it'll regulate concealed assault-style firearms.

That's something more than 100 House Democrats urged Biden to do last week, after a shooter in Colorado used a similar type of gun to kill 10 people.

Also, in the next 60 days, Biden will direct the DOJ to provide states with proposed red flag legislation.

Those are laws that would allow courts to temporarily seize firearms

from people who may be a danger to themselves or others. The White House says it will also

issue a comprehensive report on firearms tracking, a report that hasn't been completed since 2000.
