It's Thursday, the 16th of April, welcome to the President's Daily Brief.

0:16.7

I'm Mike Baker. Your eyes and ears on the world stage. All right. Let's get briefed.

0:22.4

First up, an apparent IED attack in central Tehran leaves three injured, including a member of the

0:29.1

regime's besieged paramilitary force. It's an incident that could point to something building

0:34.8

inside Iran. I'll have the details. Later in the show,

0:38.7

new reporting claims Iran used a Chinese spy satellite to help target U.S. bases in the Middle

0:44.3

East, and that's a charge that Beijing, of course, is now denying. Plus, Europe is moving ahead

0:50.6

with a backup plan for NATO, preparing for the possibility that the U.S. steps back

0:55.6

from its leadership role within the long-standing alliance. And in today's back of the brief,

1:01.1

Russia cuts internet access for millions, calling it temporary, nothing to see here, but behind the

1:07.1

scenes, the move is stirring anger among the country's elite. But first, today's

1:12.2

PDB spotlight. We've spent a lot of time here on the PDB focused on the big picture of the war

1:18.1

with Iran, the drone and missile strikes, the U.S. and Israeli air campaign, and of course,

1:23.2

the strategic choke point, that is, the Strait of Hormuz. But there's another front in this conflict

1:28.3

that's getting far less attention, and that's what's happening inside Iran. And the reason it doesn't

1:34.4

get the attention it deserves is fairly straightforward. For nearly six weeks now, the regime has

1:39.8

maintained a sweeping internet blackout, making it extremely difficult to get reliable, real-time

1:45.6

information out of the country. What we're left with is a mix of state-controlled reporting

1:50.6

and outside human rights organizations trying their best to piece together what they can.

1:56.4

Still, despite that blackout, some information does manage to trickle out, and what we're seeing,

2:01.6

at the very least, raises some important questions.

2:05.2

Let's start with an incident in Tehran.
