Summary

As we step into this new year, there's a part of us that remembers the dreams we once had. I'm on a mission to invite that dreaming girl inside us back into our lives. We often let responsibilities, fears, and past failures dim our dreams, but it's time to change that. Dreams are not only powerful, but they're also necessary for living a meaningful life. Whether they're big or small, our dreams matter, and it's vital that we give them space to grow and evolve alongside us. Let's embrace our dreams and walk this path together, knowing that the growth and transformation along the way are just as important as where we end up. Here's to a year of embracing possibilities and finding fulfillment, regardless of how big or small those dreams may seem. And whether within childhood or as she grew up out of childhood, she got lost somewhere along the way.

And today I want to open the door and welcome her back in.

Hi, this is Monica Packer, and you're listening to About Progress, where we are about progress made practical.

A warm and happy New Year to you.

If you are watching this video, then you are seeing my new podcast studio. And I say new in

0:39.5

quotes because it's just my office with fancy lights and a different vantage point. I'm now in

0:44.2

the corner. But I think it's going to work. And I'm really excited about pushing about progress to

0:49.9

the next level. I find that there are times to the calendar year that feel like fresh starts.

0:57.5

My birthday is mid-year, so it always feels like a mid-year reset. Back-to-school is so full of

1:04.8

new year energy. And of course, we've got the actual new year, which is all about new beginnings.

1:10.7

I feel like if January 1st had a

1:12.5

personality, she'd be equal parts optimistic and ambitious. Regardless of the time of year,

1:19.4

these feelings of fresh starts, optimism, ambition, and possibility often drift away and are

1:26.3

replaced with that pressure, overwhelm, stress,

1:29.6

and responsibilities that real life brings. If February 1st had a personality, I feel like it would be

1:36.6

meh. I don't know if you've seen that emoji, but meh. Maybe me at best and jaded at worst. I feel like February 1st wouldn't even recognize

1:48.1

January 1st. You'd be like, who even was that? Today, I want to speak on something that I have

1:54.2

literally sketched out for years, one that admittedly leans into that January joiner energy,

2:00.7

but also one that I really,

2:02.7

really hope transcends this particular month and something that carries you for years to come.

2:08.8

And it's this, the power and necessity of dreaming.
