Summary

Our identity influences our behavior and vice versa, creating a cycle that can elevate or drag us down. By focusing on how we see ourselves and affirming the identity we aspire to, we interrupt negative patterns and cultivate growth. It's a transformative tool not only for my kids (I explain in the episode!) but for anyone seeking to improve their lives. Identity is indeed the key to unlocking potential. 1:12.1

Brad and I are neurotypical, so we're not quite sure what the genetics are, although in our

1:17.1

expanded families, we can see how it may play out more in my side than in Brad's.

1:21.4

But one of the interesting things about each of these kids is, one, each of their neurodiverse

1:26.3

tendencies are very different, but two, in one

1:29.4

important way, they all have this in common. The way they see themselves affects the way that

1:35.7

they behave. Now, I don't typically cross over and a lot of parenting tactics here, but this is

1:41.9

more about how we can parent ourselves. So keep that in

1:44.9

1:49.9

positive self-image for each of these kids as we work on their behaviors. And I'm going to tell you

1:53.9

about this with my most stereotypical ADHD child, who has really high energy, low impulse control, is fun and loving and happy,

2:06.1

but also tends to get himself into some tricky circumstances because he's not thinking

2:10.3

through things as clearly because he simply doesn't have that skill set yet.

2:15.7

Now, not just with him, but a lot of kids who are like him,
