Hi guys. Hi. Hey. Good to hear your voice. Let me just stretch my voice here, Darren. It's been a week. It has been it's actually been to. Yeah, I guess since we took last week off as most of the listeners probably know.

0:29.0

You know, just in response to everything that was happening in the world, I think, you know, John and I, we just sort of made the decision to take the step back and to sort of listen as opposed to coming out with content, even though.

0:41.0

You know, some people came out with content. We're not judging other people who are not we're not saying that they're not listening, but we felt for us. Yeah. Just in all the cases that we reported it really felt like.

0:49.0

Martinez and murder just needed to take a step back and like have other content pushed forward during that time, right? Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, by the way, I really miss talking to you. I will say that right off. I miss talking to you. I miss you a lot. Not Matt, but I miss Megan. Yeah, not Matt. We'll get to Matt and a minute. But yeah, I mean totally. I mean, I was just going to say, Darren, what do you mean? What's been happening in the world? I don't know anything that's crazy happening. Oh, the world's exploding. Is that like a referencing exactly? Yeah, not only are they a pandemic.

1:18.0

Still going on apparently, although it's weird to see the news, you know, open up about something else outside of the pandemic. It's almost like am I living in the same life? It's absolutely crazy. Yeah.

1:32.0

And it, you know, a lot of people were doing blackout Tuesday. Some people did the blackout week. We just felt it was appropriate to just take the whole week. We could come back in full force this week. And we appreciate.

1:42.0

You know, all the support from you guys. And we hope everyone else was sort of, you know, taking the time to listen, watch the news. See what was going on and learn really about, you know, it's funny because I mean, funny or not. It's just string on our show because we get to highlight a lot of

1:57.0

things that don't get heard, which is obviously disproportionately represented in the minority groups, black people of color, gay people, people in Appalachia in Canada. You know, we talked about the trail of of tears.

2:11.0

So we get to, we have the responsibility as well as the pleasure of getting to sort of highlight these cases that aren't aren't seen. And so, you know, for us, you know, we obviously support the black lives matter movement. And we have from the start.

2:25.0

And we just wanted to make sure that everyone was aware where John and I stand with that.

2:29.0

Yeah, absolutely. And I knew from the get go that you and I were going to be on the same page about all this stuff. So it was so just like comforting to know, like as a show.

2:39.0

And as a community, I mean, this really wasn't even about us as much as it was. We wanted our community of listeners to not be listening to us for a change, you know, like go listen to other voices that are more important than ours, frankly.

2:54.0

Yeah.

2:55.0

And it gave us an opportunity, I think, as well to sort of step back and also reassess the show we're going to be releasing this Sunday. I mean, you know, we have for those who don't know, you know, we work about a week or two in advance.

3:08.0

Whenever it comes to the shows that we release on Sundays with our cases. And, you know, we had a regular old episode plan for last Sunday, not a regular old episode. I guess I should say something that obviously wasn't as timely or timely.

3:23.0

But because nothing had happened yet. Exactly. So once all of the protesting and frankly, the riots started happening. And it became very clear what the communal discourse was.

3:35.0

Matt and I who are working pretty hard on the research in the background now and Darren, you contribute as well. But Matt and I, it's part of our day jobs over here at the office.

3:45.0

That it is.

3:46.0

Yeah, don't get me credit.

3:47.0

It's not.

3:48.0

Don't get me any credit.

3:49.0

No, but you are a part of the decision making. And so we reassess and we're like, we cannot come out with something like this. We have to do something more timely and shed some light. So we wanted to let you guys know that on Sunday, our episode will be around the Watts and Birmingham riots from the 60s.
