We've got a ton to get to with the matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Looking back at Pete Carroll's tenure here in New England and how he has

transformed or maybe stayed true to himself through his career. But first, obviously, sad news for

Bill Belichick this week, his mom, Jeanette, passed away at the age of 98 and wanted to take a second

here at the beginning of the podcast to allow Bill to give voice to

what his mother meant to him. On one hand, I was going to talk about this later in the podcast.

And after hearing Bill answer a question to Phil Perry toward the end of his Thursday press

conference, I said, you know what? We've known Bill

for 20 years. Rare is the time when he lets down his guard, so to speak, and kind of explains

who he is and what he is. And he's such an enigma, and he's so well respected and admired and also,

you know, at times frustrating because we don't know him the way we would like to. So I also, you know, at times frustrating because we don't know

in the way we would like to. So I figured, you know what, in this podcast, let's roll Bill

from his thanking us at the beginning of his phone call for the condolences extended to him.
