Summary

Anna Wintour is stepping down as the Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue—but don’t panic, the bob and the sunglasses aren’t going anywhere. In this episode, I dive deep into the not-so-quiet shake-up at Condé Nast, what it means for the fashion bible we grew up worshiping, and why this timing feels very sus (looking at you, Lauren Sánchez cover).

I reflect on my own time working at CNÉ, the influence it's had on generations of fashion girls (and Marshalls shoppers with expensive taste), and the legacy of Wintour’s reign—from putting jeans on the cover in 1988 to launching the grunge wave with Kate Moss. We talk about The September Issue, The Devil Wears Prada, and all the eyebrow-raising cover controversies in between.

Plus: who's next in line for the Vogue throne? Is it Hamish Bowles? Law Roach? A safe influencer girlie? Or will they go full corporate with Derek Blasberg? I get into all of it—with a touch of sass and reverence, of course.

Today I'm here with another episode that nobody asked for because I'm obsessed with Annointour, with Vogue, with Condé Nass just as a conglomerate itself. Growing up, I was completely obsessed with all things Condé Nass, whether it was Vanity Fair or Vogue or obviously fucking Teen Vogue,

0:45.7

which not only exposed me to so many different, like, fabulous things and concepts in itself,

0:51.1

as well as, like, fashion and beauty, but that was just, like, my Bible, to say the least. I don't know if anybody out there who was into fashion as a kid ever went to

0:55.1

Teen Vogue University. Basically, it was like a weekend convention for young fashion obsessed

people. And I remember one year I went with my friend who I used to take classes at FIT with

1:07.1

during, you know, high school summers. And we went to all the different events. They had

1:14.1

like a schedule. It was kind of like camp. You got to pick all the things that you wanted to do.

1:17.5

Basically like BravoCon, but for like young people who are obsessed with fashion. And I vaguely remember

1:22.5

during one of the events, Diane von Verstember was on some panel. And I asked her a question and my

1:27.2

friend filmed it. and I can't

1:28.3

remember the question and I obviously don't have that video footage of the question I asked but I just

1:33.9

remember thinking like wow like I basically made it I'm 16 years old I have a Marshall's budget

1:40.2

with the taste of a Vogue It girl and And unfortunately, that's kind of like transcended my

1:45.4

entire life. But after I graduated college, I always knew I wanted to work in magazines and in

1:52.8

publishing, of course, with Vogue kind of being the, you know, end all be all. And a friend of mine

1:58.8

ended up getting a job at Conday Nass through a former boss of hers at
