In the New Testament, there's a phrase that has become very controversial. And here to talk about that phrase and much, much more is Dr. Andy Woods.

Andy, welcome to prophecy watchers.

It's great to be back.

Thanks for having me as always.

And I'm just going to start by reading that phrase.

The phrase in question is in, and I'm going to read the King James Bible,

which is my old, reliable King James.

2, Thessalonians chapter 2, verse 3, let no man deceive you by any means

for that day shall not come, except there come,

a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed the son of perdition.

Now that's one verse in the Bible, and more or less in the middle of that verse is the phrase

falling away.

It has become the center of much verse is the phrase falling away. It has become the center

of much, much discussion lately, Andy.

Well, it sure has, and I think part of the reason for the static on that is you have

basically two views. Probably the dominant view out there that most people are aware of

is this is referring to some sort of doctrinal departure.

They would say the noun apostasia there

is used only one other time and they'll take you over to the book of Acts

where Paul is accused of leading people

in an apostasy against the law of Moses.

And they say, well, if that's what it means over there, that's what it's got to mean here.
