I'm here with Ravi and also a guest that needs little introduction,

Andrew Yang. Thank you so much for joining The Lost Debate. Hey, Ricky. Great to be here.

Lohavi. Hi, Andrew. Thanks for being with us. We're such fans of your work and a lot of what you've been

pushing over the years. I think the easiest place to start is, you know, what's the problem with our

two-party system right now?

You know, it took me a minute to figure it out. I guess you guys are, you know, very, very savvy,

your audience is savvy, so you might already get it. But the numbers I try and use to paint a picture are

that Congress has a 22% approval rate, but incumbents have a 94% re-election rate.

And then you're thinking, well, that doesn't seem to make much sense until you realize that

the districts are drawn 90% of them to be uncompetitive in the general, which means that

you don't have competition from the other side.

Your only threat is to get primaried from within your own party, which then keeps you very,

very much in line that has very, very nasty distortions on the Republican side for sure,

Democratic side. They look different, but they're also, in my opinion, pretty nasty.

And so most of us are looking

up being like, what the heck is going on? And 75% of the country is actually in a one-party zone.

So, Ravi, are you here in New York with me and Ricky? I am. Yes. Yeah, I grew up here in

Staten Island. Oh, well, Staten Island is a bit of an exception of this because, you know, you guys are, like, pretty swingy.

Even conservative, you'd say.

I really enjoyed campaigning on Staten Island.
