Welcome to all about Agatha. This is part two of our very first episode about Agatha Christie's very first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Stiles.

0:10.0

I'm Kemper Donovan here with my co-host, Catherine Brobeckbeck and to wrap up styles we're going to be speaking about the television adaptation of the novel and our ranking system for this book and all of Christie's books to come.

0:21.0

Also a brief programming note in the future we'll be doing

0:24.7

one episode per novel and our plan is to put out these podcasts regularly once a

0:28.6

week. We encourage our listeners to read the novels before downloading each

0:32.1

1:14.9

adaptations, not the stage and radio adaptations, unless for some reason those

1:19.9

adaptations are particularly notable. So for the Mysterious Affairs styles,

1:24.7

we have a pretty simple situation.

1:26.2

There was just one adaptation released by I TV in the UK.

1:30.9

And as many listeners will know, they actually adapted every single Quaro story that

1:36.8

Christie wrote between 1989 and 2013. And in the US, these aired on PBS as part of the much loved mystery exclamation point series.

1:47.0

So getting into this I TV Poirot starring the incomparable David Suchet as Erco Poiroiro and Hugh Frazier as Arthur Hastings.

2:00.0

It's interesting that this actually was not the first adaptation.
