Hello, Total Soccer Show, friends. As you might have already guessed, no music means serious news. I wanted to update everyone about the latest news regarding Daryl, my co-host. I'm going to do my best to get through this without sopping uncontrollably. The situation with Daryl's liver has been deteriorating over the last couple weeks, which is the primary reason that he's been in the hospital and not on the show. He had a procedure last week, which we had hoped would buy him some time, but we received the dreaded news yesterday that there's nothing more his doctors can do. Darrell was transported home this afternoon to begin hospice care, and a nurse and home health aid will be with him regularly. Darrell's mother has gotten permission to travel back to the United States to be with him. She should arrive later in the week, so that is positive news. For those of you new to the show, Daryl was diagnosed with colon to liver cancer in January of 2019. He's been handling it better than I think most humans could have, certainly myself, and he's refused to let it dictate his life. And right now, I'm just very, very sad for my friend. I know many of you all are as well. I also know there are plenty of people who will want to send Daryl a kind word. Obviously, you can continue to do that via email. However, if you want to send him something more personal or physical, you can send your letters to our office address. I'll collect them there and hand them over to Daryl or his wife Shannon. The office address is 530 East Main Street, Suite 912, Richmond, Virginia, 23219. I'll put that in the show notes for this episode as well. I am going to see him early this week. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated to the extent possible. We did speak earlier today. We ended with an I love you. I'm sure he'd be okay if I pass that along to you all as well. This is obviously not the happiest news to start off the week, so I do apologize for that. Ryan and I decided to cancel recording the week in review in light of this news. I just kind of wasn't up for it, but TSS will continue to put out shows as it has been while we figure out where we go from here. For now, please take a moment to just hug your loved ones and remember that it's Leeds versus Wolverhampton tomorrow afternoon. I'm guessing I will not be the only one cheering on Daryl's beloved wolves on his behalf. But for now, I was initially just going to sign off and say goodbye, but that feels like the wrong way to deal with this with the way Daryl has handled everything so far. It feels like it would be much better, and I think he would probably want us to end with a smile and not be so sad and not be so serious. So instead, I'm just going to play an episode we recorded a long, long, long time ago. It's one of our sort of Fantasy 11s in which we take a TV show or movie or something like that, and we try to create a soccer team based on the characters. I really do think those are some of Daryl's favorite shows. I think you really enjoyed the creativity. I think you can hear that in this episode. It is the Parks and Rec 11. There are other ones out there if you want to hear us. Be silly.

But this one is a great one, and I think Parks and Recreation is Daryl's favorite show.

So it feels fitting to play it now.

And also, the thing we hear the most about these shows is it sounded like a terrible idea and I wasn't going to listen but then I listened and I actually enjoyed it.
