even more than that with so many lawmakers seemingly dug in at this hour no one not even

the people that room on your screen knows what's going to happen next for months up to

and through this morning Kevin McCarthy has played footsie with his far right insurrection

friendly colleagues bargaining in order to secure a position he told his caucus he had

quote earned now just because McCarthy is quarreling with that same wing today does not

make him anything resembling a moderate he along with every other Republican nominated

for the speakership today voted again certifying the 2020 election result in that very same

chamber where lawmakers had to bar the doors to keep out the violent insurrectionists

but it does not change the fact that right now in humiliating public fashion Kevin McCarthy

is clawing and scraping his way he hopes to the speakership trying desperately to halt

what looks like at this hour at least a runaway train it's where we begin today with some
