We often see these non-central characters named briefly in the New Testament Gospels, and we simply assume that they're lost to history

thing for a lot of Bible study folks. You know, you're reading through your Bible. You see these

things in the background. And because Jesus is such a centrally important figure, he hogs every scene, you don't, A, give a lot of thought who these people are. And if you do, in fact, I was on an airplane once with this young guy heading to Camp Pendleton for military service. And he was reading the New Testament.
