Donald Trump said that Iran had made contact and wanted a deal, quote, very badly,

after America began a blockade of ships using Iranian ports and coastal areas.

Earlier, Mr. Trump warned that any Iranian boats that approached American military vessels

would be, quote, immediately eliminated. Ships arriving at or leaving from non-Iranian

ports will be left alone, the Pentagon said.

Hizbullah's leader, Naim Qasem, said that Lebanon should cancel talks with Israel scheduled for

Tuesday in Washington. Lebanon's foreign minister has said the meeting would go ahead.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross said it was deeply distressed by the killing of a volunteer

who died on Monday from injuries sustained in an Israeli strike on southern Lebanon on Sunday.

In his first press conference after defeating Viktor Orban in Hungary's election,

Petamadja pledged close the ties with the EU and said his government would stop blocking the

bloc's 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine. He added, quote, Maga is not our deal.

The election's result has sparked debate among Europe's hard

right. One lawmaker from the alternative for Germany party said Mr. Trump's friendship

hung like millstones around Mr. Orban's neck.
