Welcome to the Dean's List.

Welcome to a little mini history class today.

I just, I feel like we're going to dive right into it, right here at the onset.

This is a history class that we don't talk about a lot,

but we're going to use it to perhaps springboard today

into a deeper conversation.

And that's really what we love history class for,

is to launch us into further exploration, launch us into further

conversation, launch us into deeper study, as it were.

1754, we're going all the way back to May 28, 1754.

And the reason we're going back this far is because this really is what

started the French and Indian War, the war before the war. The War for Independence

before the War for Independence, I don't think it's ever been called that.

I just called it that.

The French and Indian War, that's what it was called here.

In Europe, it was called the Seven Years War.

But it's today that the Virginia militia,

under lieutenant colonel George Washington,

defeated French troops near Uniontown, Pennsylvania in really the opening skirmish of the French and Indian War.

This is really what kicked it off.
