In a historic move, workers at an Amazon warehouse and Coventry, which is in the middle of England,

are gearing up for a vote to decide if they want union representation. This could be the first time

Amazon which is a marketplace underwriter recognizes a trade union in the UK. The

that GMB officials for the very first time are going to walk into the Coventry warehouse and almost immediately start meeting Amazon workers

because they've got a couple of weeks now to try and get 40% of the workforce to vote in favor of union recognition.

They think that there are about 3,000 workers in the Coventry

fulfillment center, and so they're going to need

at least 1,200 of them to vote in favor.

And if they win that vote, what it means is that the GMB will be able to

negotiate on behalf of that workforce on things like pay and terms and

conditions and so what they're going to be doing over the next couple of

weeks is meeting with groups of workers they say up to 40 at a time four meetings a

day the workforce by the way are going to get time off to attend those meetings

to try and persuade them.

At the same time, Amazon will also be holding its own meetings to put the counter argument and the kinds of arguments that
