There's a wonderful documentary that I mentioned a couple years ago about the knuckleball and the last great knuckleballer was Tim Wakefield.

And talks about the history of that pitch.

There weren't very many people who pitched it professionally.

One of the interesting things about it, which you may have noticed,

is that knuckleballers typically pitch much later into their careers than fastball.

The guys would curve or a great slider or a sinker.

And the reason is because they don't have to put the torque on their arm.

They don't try to blow a ball past you.

It's all in how the fingernail on the ball operates.

And it's almost like this house of mirrors concept.

And when a knuckleballer is on, they're very difficult to hit.

And when they're off, you got to get them out of there because it's terrible.

But it's almost like a carnival game in the middle of professional baseball.

But it is real.

Tim Wakefield was the last of the knuckleballers.
