slash Wiley Coyote cartoons as a running gag.

The company manufactures outlandish products that fail or backfire at the worst possible times.

For those of you who don't speak ancient Greek, well allow me to translate.

The word Acme comes from an ancient Greek word meaning the peak Zenith or Prime.

Yet products from the fictional Acme Corporation are often failure-prone or explosive,

thus making the gag even funnier.

You'll remember that Wiley Coyote would often purchase mail-order products from the Acme Corporation in his attempt to catch the ever-elusive

roadrunner.

One running gag involves the Coyote trying in vain to shield himself with a little

parasol against a great falling boulder that is about to crush him.

Another one that involves him falling from a high cliff,

after momentarily being suspended in midair,

as if the fall is delayed until he realizes that there is nothing below him.
