Summary

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we’re joined by the Rochells (or should we call them the Kuch family??) — Allison Kuch (content creator, podcaster & self-proclaimed “30-year-old teen mom”) and her husband Isaac Rochell (former NFL player turned broadcaster and certified girl dad) for a double date. We talk about everything — from how they met at Notre Dame (and yes their first date was at Starbucks like Google says) to surviving long distance, navigating finances, and redefining “success” after becoming parents. They open up about solo parenting while busy with work travel, postpartum depression, exclusive pumping for a year (aka living attached to “the robot”), prenups, and how they keep their relationship strong through all of it. Plus: girl vs. boy parenting, who’s the better cook (“Dads Eat Last” energy), their flight-point obsession, and what their next chapter looks like now that life after football is in full swing. It's funny. A lot of people think that he like wants a boy because like sports, which I'm like that's like toxic, whatever.

0:06.2

But he's like, oh, if I didn't have a boy, like I wouldn't be like sad. You would not be sad. No. I've been around men my whole life. Like it's been straight men. My whole life. This is weird.

0:16.7

Am I a guy?

0:17.5

Yeah, I'm like, other than my wife.

0:18.7

I have a brother, football.

0:20.1

It's all men.

0:20.6

So I'm like, yeah, I'm cool with a girl.

0:23.4

I found coming I'm like, other than my wife. I have a brother, football. It's all man. So I'm like, yeah, I'm cool with a girl.

0:23.4

I found coming into it, like, growing up, I'd always thought, like, I wanted a boy.

0:28.2

Right.

0:28.6

And then when, like, the moment actually occurs, like, over the past year, like, I didn't even think about it.

0:37.1

And just, like, the didn't even think about it. And just like the way that, um, you just so

0:41.1

naturally embrace being a girl dad, um, that it was really funny. Like when we found out it was a boy,

0:47.8

I had to like go through an adjustment of like, oh, re-visualizing, okay, what may life look like now? Yeah. But for the first one, we thought, was a boy, because the doctor called it a boy, mistakenly, they didn't mean to say that. They were like, there's his, and we're like, what? And then, oh, no, I didn't mean to say, hey, I meant to say it. Oh say it Oh wow so the gender reveal we thought was wrong and then this one we could have sworn was a girl

1:14.9

Because the pregnancy symptoms have been exact same as the first one so interesting

1:19.3

Yeah so here we are yeah I don't know I allegedly it's a boy

1:24.6

We'll see and when it's TBD did that your NIPT test? It's like 74 tests have said, yeah. I've had three blood tests. I mean, that's a boy. Although our friend did the early gender reveal and it said girl and she really wanted a girl. And two weeks later, it was like, no, it's a boy. It's tragic. Yeah How many kids do you all want to have? Well, I was going to say I'm confident with two, but like maybe a third. The idea of two sounds like lonely. I think unless we get rocked by the second kid, like I feel like we're going to have easily three. I mean, we love having a kid. I was actually carrying the third one.

2:01.8

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I don't have to do anything. I'm like, I'm chilling. But I'm like, yeah,

2:05.0

let's have five. Yeah, anything after two, you can carry them. Yeah, I'll work on that. That's how I feel. If he does, it all do it. Yeah. Okay, perfect. You guys can figure it out. He'll be This arrogant.
