So for me, I'm not trying to tear down anyone's faith.

I'm trying to encourage critical thought.

And my objective isn't to make the church disappear.

So none of my goals, none of the goals that I've set and none of the motives that I put in place are to end the institution or bring the institution to its knees and crush it or destroy

you know have it like be gone from the planet my goal is to help people think critically and make

informed decisions now that that can be painful criticism is not easy you know we all get criticized

and it's super uncomfortable but that doesn't mean it's

antagonism. Welcome, everybody.

I thought it'd be fun to get to know you and see what your podcast is all about.

So the first, the thing I wanted was like your background.

Like, what is your two-minute Mormon story?

Yeah.

I mean, it's going to be hard to condense it, so maybe not full sentences, but in two minutes.

Okay, let's, born and raised, LDS, scrupulosity, really bad depression, married young, you know, the regular Mormon upbringing became a gospel doctrine teacher,

studied as much as I could to be prepared for that and slowly lost my testimony. My wife

is still an active believing member. And so we're doing the mixed faith marriage thing. So,

you know, she takes the kids to church.

And some weeks she leaves them with me, just kind of depending on what's going on.
