Summary

Grumpy Cat has died and we came last (again) in Eurovision. This week Dolly's down a Doris Day content-hole and Pandora's bewitched by the Instagram account @90sanxiety.

We discuss Alabama's new abortion ban - the most restrictive in the States - voted in by 25 white men and reflect on the ongoing battle for agency in Northern Ireland, which sees 28 women travel to England every single day, for an abortion.

And we debate Uber's new 'silence mode' - whereby you will be able to silence your driver. A practical solution for when you need a bit of quiet; or a worrying indicator of our inability to entertain ad hoc conversation?

Welcome to the Highlo, the weekly current affairs and pop culture podcast brought to you

0:19.7

by Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes.

0:22.0

It's been a big news week for many reasons but of course the most important reason, the

0:27.2

story on everyone's lips, the talk of the water cooler is that in celebration of Eurovision,

0:32.6

the cheesiest event in the world, flat-sharing sites, spare room, launched a unique pizza

0:37.8

topped with 41 different cheeses, sourced from the 41 nations competing in this year's

0:42.7

song contest. The ultimate homage to Frommage was available for free from Baz and Fred's

0:49.1

in Southern London on the day of the competition. Why was it available for free? It must be quite

0:53.6

expensive to make.

0:54.6

I didn't think that was not a particularly. I couldn't even name 41 different types of

0:59.9

cheeses. Neither could I. Don't try right now. All that from Arche for a deeply disappointing

1:06.4

result because the UK came last again which is deeply unfair considering that Slovenia

1:12.0

sung the creepiest, slowest sort of death lullaby I've ever seen in my life. I didn't

1:18.4

actually watch it this year not live I hastened to add because I was out because I'm a cool

1:22.3

mum but four hours of it on Sunday morning was dating. Oh I should have watched it because

1:28.5

you know what I didn't realise it was Eurovision which is my favourite cultural moment of the

1:32.6

year.

1:33.6

Cultural moment. Until I was listening to Graham Norton's Saturday Breakfast Show on Radio 2 which

1:40.0

is the best way to stop the weekend and he was talking about Eurovision and I very very

1:44.4

nearly rang my friends and cancelled my night out.

1:47.5

Graham Norton was on excellent form. He introduced the model bar Raffaielli as the X model Raffaielli

1:53.9

who he then just took a sort of mysterious disliked to for the rest of the show at one point
