Summary

Big wins, tough losses, and spring football officially here in Tuscaloosa 🥃🐘 On this episode of Bama and Bourbon, Lance Taylor from The Next Round and Aaron Suttles of Yea Alabama break down a rollercoaster stretch for Alabama Basketball. The Crimson Tide picked up a huge SEC road win at Tennessee, showing grit and toughness in one of the toughest environments in college basketball. But the momentum came to a halt with a loss at Georgia that snapped Alabama’s 8-game winning streak. What went right in Knoxville? What went wrong in Athens? And what does it all mean for Nate Oats’ team as SEC play intensifies and NCAA Tournament positioning takes shape? LT and Aaron analyze the adjustments, standout performances, and the bigger picture for Alabama hoops moving forward. Then the focus shifts to the gridiron as Alabama Football begins spring practice on Sunday. What are the biggest storylines surrounding Kalen DeBoer’s program? Position battles, offensive identity, defensive depth — the guys dive into what Crimson Tide fans should be watching as spring ball kicks off and preparations for the 2026 season begin. Of course, it wouldn’t be Bama and Bourbon without a proper pour. The fellas sip on Yea Alabama’s very own bourbon, The Standard, blending premium Crimson Tide conversation with a premium spirit. If you’re an Alabama Basketball fan, Alabama Football diehard, SEC sports junkie, or bourbon enthusiast, this episode is for you. 👉 Like the video, subscribe to The Next Round YouTube channel, and turn on notifications so you never miss an episode of Bama and Bourbon. Hey, welcome into another edition of Bama and Bourbon with Aaron Suttles from A Alabama. I'm Lance Taylor from the next round. When we talk bourbon, we talk Alabama. It all comes full circle here. We did this a few months ago, but this is y'all's bourbon. Yeah, when you walk in and you say, hey, we're drinking the A. Alabama Burbin. It caught me completely by surprise, but I'm well-hurst on it. I can tell you about it. Yeah, so this, again, it just goes hand in hand because when you purchase a bottle of this bourbon, which is available in ABC stores and packet stores across our fair state here in Alabama, some of the proceeds go to Yay Alabama. Yeah. Yeah.

So that was the whole appeal in doing it. And, you know, in terms of value, probably not the best value for your buck because you know your money's going to go to, I wouldn't say it's charity, but you know where your money's going. So you're going to pay a little extra premium on it. So. But if you're an Alabama fan of a Burma fan, this is perfect. and you're already drinking bourbon, you're going to want this in your collection.

The one thing I'm really proud of is I like the way the bottle looks. I like the way the labels are and I like the font that they used. It was very intentional. We worked closely with bespoken spirits who put this out for us out of lexington kentucky we had to get this

1:11.7

this was a long process man we had to we had to work on it i had to choose the bourbon

1:15.8

and then we had to get it through the board of trustees to give their approval it was a it was a

1:19.6

lengthy process yeah well look i mean it looks great uh so we'll do the standard this week next week we'll

1:24.5

step it up that's right a little more premium a little smaller batch in the 1831 but last week we had it was the 80 proof on a

1:32.6

basal hayden right mm-hmm yeah we're stepping this one ninety four proof on the

1:36.5

standard 94 proof and you're gonna notice a nice dark amber color to this do love the

1:42.5

color room and it's just a good salad bourbon.

1:45.2

When I say I picked it, like, obviously I didn't pick it from scratch, but they gave me a list

1:48.7

of bourbons, a lower-proof bourbon.

1:50.5

They gave me like six to eight to choose from.

1:53.0

And then for like higher-proof bourbon, they gave me six to eight.

1:55.2

And these were the, I gave my recommendation with the committee and they all sort of

1:59.2

well, did you do the tasting

2:00.8

notes? Again, being a writer. So, okay, so tell me, an unapologetically proud spirit inspired by

2:07.3

the heart, grit, legacy of Yay, Alabama, sip in the spirit of champions, channel the fervor

2:12.6

of Tuscaloosa and every glass. Yay, Alabama bourbon captures bold flavors, stronger conviction, forged for fans built by believers and designed to empower future champions. Join us, raising a toast to authenticity, community, and game day glory. Is that you? That may have been me. Okay. Hey, there we go. Look at this. This is homegrown right here. So, again, cheers. Yeah, cheers.

2:39.8

I haven't gotten wild. I will tell you, this past weekend. So came back. My first drink was last

2:45.2

Thursday right here in this room on Bammon Bourbon. And then after that I had two bourbons on Friday night, and that's the only bourbon I drank all weekend. Easing back in on the bourbon front, a little more red wine than I probably have needed, but I've been pretty good. Yeah, we had a golf tournament on Saturday. I heard all about it. We got after a little bit. My group gets after a little bit. The Inverness Country Club, man.
