The War and Peace Report. I'm Amy Goodman. As the Gaza death toll nears 19,000. The Israeli military is continuing to carry out deadly raids

inside the occupied West Bank. We're continuing our conversation with Ahmed Tabassi, the artistic director at the Freedom Theater in Janine,

jailed this week after Israel rounded up hundreds of Palestinian men in the West Bank.

Two of his colleagues remain in detention,

including the general manager of the Janine Theater.

We're also joined by Peter Schuman, the 89-year-old co-founder of the legendary Bread and Puppet Theater.

He's here in New York this week for productions at the theater for a new city, an

owed to Gaza about the Israeli assault on Gaza and to have two artists here, two people running

artistic institutions and two different parts of the world. I wanted to go first to Ahmed Tabassi in Janine, sitting in your

ravaged theater.

We did part one where you describe what happened to the theater.

And I want to say that in 2011 the co-founder of the theater

Giuliano Mirchemis was assassinated.

Your theater Ahmed has been under attack for years.

Can you talk about the idea of art and resistance
