| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to the Fully Charged Plus podcast. |
| 0:26.8 | We have had guests on this show in the past from a British company called Octopus Energy, |
| 0:34.5 | an energy supplier, and they've been really what they are doing is really interesting. |
| 0:39.2 | I just want to explain to our listeners who are outside the British Isles that we used |
| 0:45.2 | to have the Big Six, they were called the Big Six Energy Suppliers, a couple of French |
| 0:50.0 | companies, Dutch companies, all that stuff, who would supply electricity you'd buy, that's |
| 0:54.2 | who you paid your electricity bill. British Gas was obviously the really big one who sold |
| 0:58.3 | electricity, that's confusing. And so they were the big suppliers in the UK up until probably |
| 1:04.9 | seven or eight years ago, and since then there's been a great many startup companies that offer |
| 1:09.9 | a different service, much more personalised service, but then more recently the incredible |
| 1:15.6 | companies coming to the fore who are taking advantage of all the new technology that we're installing |
| 1:20.0 | on the grid and in the home. And so Octopus Energy are one of those, they're really the leading |

| 1:36.1 | to make maximum use of the whole sale price of electricity. So I have a thing called Octopus Agile |
| 1:44.7 | which follows the wholesale price of electricity in this country very accurately, and it changes |
| 1:49.5 | every half hour. So you do need to kind of, you know, I'm still getting used to a bit of battery |
| 1:54.0 | management because I've got batteries and cold, when do I charge a car? When the electricity is |
| 1:57.9 | clean and cheap, I've now discovered that isn't always at night, sometimes it's in the middle of |
| 2:02.5 | the day, like at the moment I am paying seven pence a kilowatt hour for electricity, and then about |
| 2:09.3 | an hour and a half, that same electricity will cost me about 33 pence a kilowatt hour. So as you can |
| 2:16.0 | imagine, I'm making sure that I'm not charging a car or charging my batteries then, I will run the |
| 2:20.8 | house off the power walls. So that is really interesting, that is just on an individual level, |
