0:00.0 | Hey everybody, welcome to Health Theory. Today's guest is Dr. Robert Zimbroski. He's an author, |
0:05.3 | physician, functional medicine practitioner, and cancer survivor. He has quite literally written |
0:11.3 | the book on how to rebuild yourself from even the most terrifyingly poor state of health. |
0:16.7 | And that is the thing, Dr. Z, that I find the most interesting about your story is |
0:21.6 | having gone through it. And I think anybody else having been diagnosed with cancer, |
0:27.8 | or the temptation is to give up, or the temptation is to think that the best you can ever hope for |
0:33.9 | is to maybe get back to zero or some semblance of who you used to be. But you've gone way beyond |
0:39.5 | where you started. Walk us through that. Like, one, just what exactly happened that landed you |

1:26.0 | they go through major stressors, they self-medicate. I couldn't sleep. I had diarrhea. I was my stomach |
1:31.2 | was upset. I mean, I was literally out of my mind with stress, so I medicated myself with a |
1:36.1 | boost to put myself to sleep. I was eating crappy food. I was always on the run. And that didn't work. |
1:43.2 | From shock. Exactly. And so the smoke cleared the relationship and the house is back to normal. |
1:49.2 | The person who was stealing the law took care of that. And so my wife seemed to come back in order. |
1:57.4 | But about 18 months, maybe two years later, I started to lose weight. I didn't feel good. |
