Let's do this. A new report from the Washington Post found U.S. officials repeatedly lied about America's

longest war for years.

The post is referring to the documents as the Afghanistan Papers, a reference to the Pentagon Papers, which were leaked documents that showed massive failures in the Vietnam War and caused uproar in the early 70s.

This time, it's about the war in Afghanistan.

The post spent three years and filed two lawsuits against the government

to get a hold of hundreds of confidential interviews

with more than 400 key players in the war, including a three-star Army general.

The top officials interviewed said the war became impossible to win and the strategy was unclear.

One general said, quote, we didn't have the foggiest notion of what we were undertaking,

while a Navy SEAL called the war a waste of a trillion dollars.

Another commanding officer said they couldn't get anyone to define what winning actually meant.
